Isolated from Human placenta
Description
- Human placenta COT DNA has been optimized for a size range of 50 to 300 base pairs which represents the theoretical maximum size for repetitive sequences
- 0.5 mg is sufficient for 5 to 10 Southern or 500 in situ hybridizations
Applications
- Human placenta COT DNA decreases false positive signals in Microarrays, in situ Hybridizations, and Southern blots by acting as a blocking agent for repetitive sequences
- Can be used to block non-specific hybridization in microarray screening
Y-Chromosome
Material manufactured from only male placentas
Preparation
Human COT DNA has been prepared by methods including phenol extraction, which is known to inactivate biological agents. This product should be handled using standard Biosafety Level 2 procedures
Storage Buffer
10 mM Tris-HCl (pH 7.4)
1.0 mM EDTA
Quality Control
Determination of Molecular Size: When analyzed on a 4% agarose gel, >50% of Human placenta COT DNA migrates between 50-300 base pairs
Comparable Intensity: 3 µg of control lot had intensity in agarose gel with EtBr similar to master lot
Note
Chimerx takes extraordinary steps to assure that our Human placenta COT DNA does not exceed theoretical size maximums for repetitive DNA found in the genome of interest, while carefully removing non-COT fragments which might block a real target site.
